Saturday, June 22, 2019 is the date for the 27th Annual Awards Banquet and Convocation Ceremony of the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI).  The event will take place at the Student Union Ballroom (upper level) at San Jose State University, One Washington Square, San Jose, California.  

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

4:30 p.m. —Meet and Greet. MSTM alumni, current students and graduating students, please join us for some inspiration and networking. SJSU Student Union, 2nd Floor, Room 4A, right around the corner from the Main Ballroom and the Mezzanine.

5:30 PM — Wine tasting reception and photo ops with transportation dignitaries, SJSU Student Union, 2nd Floor, Mezzanine.

6:00 P.M. — Doors open for the 22nd Annual MTI Awards Banquet, SJSU Student Union, 2nd Floor, Main Ballroom.

9:30 P.M. — Make your way to one of two locations for the after party: the Fairmont Hotel Lobby Lounge for live music, light dining (sushi, tapas) and cocktails, and Original Joe’s for drinks and food.

The keynote speaker at the 27th Annual MTI Awards Banquet will be Therese McMillan, the new Executive Director of the Bay Area’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the top executive for the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG).    Previous MTC Executive Director Steve Heminger retired in February 2019, after serving at that post since 2001. Therese McMillan, is a former faculty member and instructor for the Master of Science in Transportation Management (MSTM) program.   During her six years as an MSTM instructor, Therese shared her experience and knowledge from 25 years at San Francisco’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), including eight years serving as Executive Director of Policy.  In 2009, Therese accepted a presidential appointment to serve as deputy executive director of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in the United States Department of Transportation, where she later served as Acting Director.  More recently, Therese served as Chief Planning Officer for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro). 

We will be honoring the candidates for the Master's Degree program, as well as the recipients of other awards, including the MTI Alumni Association's Alumnus/Alumna of the Year: Robin O’Hara of LA Metro!  (www.mticonnect.org/aoy)

Parking can be found at the 10th Street or 7th Street garage as well as Lot 4 at 10th Street and San Antonio. See map below.   When you arrive at the ground floor of the Student Union Center, check in with Registration to to get a name badge, which will have a color-coded meal ticket. 

IMPORTANT: After submitting your payment as noted below, please specify the menu choices and names of all people in your party by e-mailing this information to Jill Carter at jill.carter@sjsu.edu.  Please indicate if you have special meal requests such as vegan, gluten-free, etc.  See menu choices below.   In addition, please specify if you would like to sit with us at the MSTM Alumni table.   It's the best party of the year.  Time to celebrate!  Let Jill know the names of everyone attending in your group, along with each person's menu choice.

Herb Polenta cake topped with Wild Mushroom Ragu and Garlic Green Beans (Vegetarian)

Grilled New York Steak with a Red Wine ­Balsamic Reduction served with Garlic Roasted Herb Potatoes, Roasted Lemon Asparagus, and topped with Fried Shallots and Micro Greens

Stuffed Chicken with Beurre Blanc Sauce, served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Vegetables

7. Review and Submit.

Completing the Master of Science in Transportation Management (MSTM) at the Mineta Transportation Institute is an achievement indicating dedication and commitment to teamwork, academic inquiry, and technical mastery of complex topics.  Congratulations to all of our graduates.
